Brand Identity for a Contemporary Ceramic Studio

BTW Ceramics is a housewares brand founded in Brooklyn and produced in Los Angeles, creating handmade porcelain pieces for the table and home. Designed by ceramic artist Brooke T. Winfrey, each object is shaped, painted, and finished by hand, embracing variation and imperfection as an essential part of the work.

The brand required an identity that reflects the tactile, expressive nature of the ceramics while remaining refined and adaptable across packaging and printed materials.

Approach

Approach

The identity was developed in close dialogue with Brooke’s making process. Each ceramic piece is thrown individually on the wheel, with surface marks applied intuitively and without repetition. This rhythm and movement informed both the logo and the broader visual language.

 The logo draws inspiration from the circular motion of the wheel, while custom patterns and compositions were created using hand-drawn splatters and brushstrokes, translated digitally to preserve their spontaneity. The system was designed to feel ex
